Bulfinch's Mythology
I read some otehr stories and noticed that they are also very strange. The ones I read, all of eleven, talked about Perseus and some of his adventures. Perseus seemed to me like a very proud man, he felt good of what he did and of where he came from, and about killing the Gorgon, and saving the virgin Andromeda from being killed and eaten by a sea-creature. He does win a reward for what he does, well he gets a beutiful wife, with a lot of terrain and wealth, as the story says. His is a very interesting story, for he kills a gorgon, who was once beutiful, but became so ugly that if you looked at her, you became stone. Perseus, sent by Mercury and Minerva, another gorgon, went to kill her. He went there when she was asleep, and to not look at her in teh eye he was given a shield. This shield was so shiny that it worked as a mirror, so Perseus kills Medusa, and takes her head as a trophy. He decided to take a trip, so he goes, and finds the land of Atlas, who has gardens with gold trees, gold fruits, and gold leaves. He asks Atlas if he shall give him food and shelter, and tells about all the good things he has accomplished, who he killed, and that his father is Jupiter. Atlas sees something different, and think that this man is going to rob his gold, so tells him to get out! So Perseus goes all indignated and flying, he sees a beutiful woman tied to a rock, being sacrificed to the water beats, so he kills the beats and claims Andromeda. In the wedding, the supposed man to marry her ges in, and starts attempting to kill Perseus, but then he shows them the head of the Gorgon and they all turn to stone, and once again, like most of all the Myths, the hero wins and is happy.
