Ishmael Chapter Ten
When I entered chapter ten to me was like a great accompleshment. I thought that after finishing chapter nine, this would give more about the story and of Ishmael and the learning. But as I was finishing the chapter, I discovered that is was like a Social Studies class, and those are the parts that I don't like abot the book. I hate when they start talking about the fertile crescent and about Adam and the magical fruit of knowledge. I know it all has to do with the story but I already knew many of those things by 7th grade Social Studies. What I did like was when Ishmael left his office/ room and went with the carnival to the other city about two hours from their setting city. I liked it because it was strange that, first, he just left without warning, without leaving any notes or anything, and second because it is interesting all the things the man does to find him. He goes to the house of Mrs. Sokolow, he puts and ad on the newspaper ( which was not very effective), he calls to see which carnivals were in town and where they had gone, and after all, he goes there to look for him! He did deserve to find Ishmael, because he worked hard to find him, and he was really interested in his studies. I found interesting that Ishmael did not want to go back to the main city, even though the man offerd to take him out and return him. He said he enjoyed that place more. Also it was nice to see that after all that he did to find Ishmael, the man decided to rent a motel room and stay, because if it were me, I probably would have lost my patience and gone back. I enjoyed some parts of the chapter, but others, not at all.
