Gilgamesh's Adventure
Gilgamesh is the ruler of Uruk, the perfect, the terror. He is the one that created Uruk, as perfect as it is. He is the one the gods prefer, but he has one problem, he is hungry for new adventures. There are, though, problems with him and the people. The people don't really like his, I don't know why. The people go to the goddes Aruru, and say to her "You created this man, now create another. Create his double and let the two contend. Let stormy heart contend with stormy heart..." pg 5. So there is a double created. Enkidu, who is twice the size than ordinary men. Bigger and stronger than battlemen. He is fooled by a harlot (temple prostitute) and he asks to be taken to Uruk. Then he arrives at a camp, and showers and wears new clothing and eats and drinks beer. He meets an man going to offer some valuable things at a wedding, and goes with him to Uruk. When he arrives and waits for Gilgamesh to meet him in the marital room, and when he finally appears, they fight and wrestle, and when Gilgamesh defeats him, they kiss and hold hands and become companions. Enkidu tells him about a powerful creature, " Huwawa's mouth is fire; his roar the floodwater; his breath is death", and as Gilgamesh feels he is the best, undefeatable, so asks Enkidu to take him to the forrest where this beast rules, the Cedar Forrest. Gilgamesh's mom, Rimat-Ninsun, tells him "Enkidu, the companion, will not forsake you" pg 15, and the old men tell him to leave Enkidu fight first. This was a good point to stop reading, because it lets me thinking, who will be the best, the winner and the one whose name will be remembered among Uruk's many generations? Will it be Gilgamesh, Enkidu, both or...
