The death of a friend, a companion, a brother
In page 44, "Gilgamesh, weeping, mourned for Enkidu." This is a very sad part in the book, or at least for me, because I felt that Gilgamesh and Enkidu were developing a bond in between them, and I felt that their relationship as adoptive brothers, as friends and as companions were just rising to their climax, and right before gettin there, he dies. I started to think about this for a while and noticed that Enkidu, since he was created to the time when he died, he did not live much. After thinking a while, I noticed that he might have gone to earth for a purpose, maybe to send Gilgamesh to the adventure of the forrest, or maybe it was to set a trap to Gilgamesh to make him aware of somethings, like not only your money, ego and power is what matter, also your friendship and what other people think about you. It also made me think when Enkidu says "... and raged like a wild bull over me in glory, and Gilgamesh was afraid and did not help me." pg 42. This made me thought because I am know thinking that Gilgamesh only had Enkidu as a defender, that he cared nothing more of him, but many parts contradict me, so it can be untrue. But as Enkidu always helps Gilgamesh, in the forrest, with the wild bull, and when Enkidu is about to die, he dreams that Gilgamesh has just betrayed him. Another part of these two tablets that made me think is that dreams have a very important thing to do in this book. Many of what Gilghamesh or Enkidu dreams happens. For example, "In the dream I had a great bull head was thrashing over my body in glory, and bellowing over me, me helplessly on the ground..." This to me is when the goddess Ishtar send a bull to punish Gilgamesh, but between Gilgamesh and Enkidu they manage to kill the bull. Also, the dream of Enkidu that Gilgamesh did't help him, well I feel that Gilgamesh could have done more than a statue...He kills bulls, beasts, everything, and he ca't make the gods do anything?! I did feel it was kind of a betray to Enkidu.
